Bolognese

Ingredients

  • 1.25  lb Ground beef, pork or Lamb
  • 5 oz  Pancetta (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Yellow onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 Garlic cloves (minced)
  • ½ tsp Dried oregano
  • 2 sprigs Thyme (stems removed)
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 3 cups Passata (tomato sauce)
  • 1 cube Beef stock dehydrated
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 lb Dried spaghetti
  • Grated parmesan for serving
  • Parsley or basil

Directions

  1. Using the Fusion Master Mincer with fine mincer disc, mince chosen meat and pancetta into a medium bowl.
  2. Heat oil in the Universal Cookware 4L Stockpot over medium heat. Add onion, garlic and minced meat. Cook for 2-3 min. until meat has browned.
  3. Add herbs, tomato paste, passata, beef stock cube, salt and pepper. Bring sauce to a boil, reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for 20 min. or until sauce has reduced.
  4. While sauce is simmering, add spaghetti to the Microwave Pasta Maker, add water to corresponding water level and microwave for 15 min. at 1000 watts. Allow to rest for 4 min., drain and stir through 1 ladle full of the sauce.
  5. Serve pasta with Bolognese sauce, top with Parmesan and fresh parsley or basil.

TIP:

  • Make it vegetarian! Use vegetarian mince, 800 g / ±28 oz canned lentils or 1 kg / ±2.2 lb sliced button mushrooms.
  • Stirring a ladle of sauce through allows the pasta to loosen and avoids it from sticking together!
